About Roni Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Roni local government area is domiciled in Jigawa state, North-west geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA are in the town of Roni with the LGA comprising of a number of towns and villages which include Baragumi, Gora, Gadare, Kumeji, Pandako, Warpawa, Gasakoli, and Dagasawa. Roni local government area is a part of the Kazaure Emirate and has an estimated population of 164,894 inhabitants with the area mostly inhabited by members of the Hausa and the Fulani ethnic groups. The Hausa language is commonly spoken in the LGA while the religion of Islam is extensively practiced in the LGA.


GEOGRAPHY OF RONI

Roni LGA covers a total area of 322 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 34 degrees centigrade. The LGA witnesses two distinct seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons with the former lasting for longer periods of the calendar year than the latter.


ECONOMY OF RONI

Roni LGA is rich in mineral deposits of Kaolin and the mining of the resource is an important economic activity in Roni LGA. Other important economic activities engaged in by the people of Roni LGA include farming, trade, animal rearing, hunting, crafts making and pottery.
