About Ringim Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Ringim local government area is found in Jigawa state, North-west geopolitical zone of Nigeria with the headquarters of the LGA stationed in the town of Ringim. Ringim LGA is a part of the Ringim Emirate and is constituted by towns and villages which include Yakasawa, Marawa, Daurawa, Gasakole, Karshi, Tofa, Dabi, and Ringim. The current estimated population of Ringim LGA i put at 293,404 inhabitants with the area predominantly occupied by members of the Hausa and the Fulani ethnic groups. The Hausa language is commonly spoken in the LGA while the religion of Islam is extensively practiced in the LGA. Notable landmarks in Ringim LGA include the Government Secondary School Ringim and the Hussaini Adamu Federal Polytechnic campus.


GEOGRAPHY OF RINGIM

Ringim LGA covers a total area of 1,057 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 33 degrees centigrade. The LGA experiences two distinct seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons with the average wind speed in the LGA put at 11 km/h.


ECONOMY OF RINGIM

Ringim LGA has a boisterous trade sector and hosts a number of markets such as the Ringim main market where a variety of commodities are bought and sold. Farming is also an important occupation of the people of Ringim LGA with crops such as tobacco, groundnut, millet, soybeans, and onions grown in the LGA. Other important economic enterprises engaged in by the people of Ringim LGA include pottery, animal rearing, and hunting.

Ringim LGA was created in November 1991.
