About Guri Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Guri local government area is in Jigawa state, Northwest geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA are in the town of Guri. Several towns and villages make up Guri LGA and these include Garin-Mai Ung, Bulama, Garin Buluma, Kadira, Margadu, Ladiya, Musari, Dagana, and Guri. The population of Guri LGA is estimated at 161,503 inhabitants with the area hosting a variety of tribal affiliations. The Bade language is extensively spoken in Guri LGA while the religion of Islam is widely practiced in the area.


GEOGRAPHY OF GURI

Guri LGA covers a total area of 1,060 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 32 degrees centigrade. The area witnesses two distinct seasons which are a short rainy season and a much longer dry season. The humidity level in Guri LGA averages 23 percent while the average wind speed in the area is 11 km/h.


ECONOMY OF GURI

Farming is the major occupation of the people of Guri LGA with crops such as Onion, tomatoes, and rice grown in the area. Guri LGA is also a hub for the rearing of a variety of animals such as donkeys and cows. The LGA also hosts several markets where the people of the area go to buy and sell a variety of commodities.
