About Bakori Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Bakori local government area is found in Katsina state which is in the Northwest geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The headquarters of the area are in the town of Bakori and the area shares boundaries with Funtua, Malumfashi, Danja, and the Kankara LGAs. Several towns and villages make up Bakori LGA and these include Barde, Kakumi, Kandurawa, Jargaba, Gazara, Dawan Musa, Kabomo, Guga, and Magaji. The population of Bakori LGA is put at 107,213 inhabitants with the major tribes being the Hausa and the Fulani. Islam is the commonly practiced religion in Bakori LGA while the fufulde and Hausa languages are widely spoken in the area. Bakori LGA is home to the Bakori Emirate with the Emir superintending over the traditional affairs of the area. Popular landmarks in Bakori LGA include the Federal Government Girls College Bakori.


GEOGRAPHY OF BAKORI

Bakori local government area covers a total area of 679 square kilometres with wind speed of 4km/h. The area has an average temperature of 36 degrees centigrade while the humidity of the area is pegged at 14 percent.


ECONOMY OF BAKORI

Agriculture is the major economic enterprise of the people of Bakori with crops such as millet, rice, and sorghum grown in the area. Cattle rearing is also an important economic activity with a sizeable percentage of the area’s male dwellers being nomads and herdsmen. Trade also contributes to the economy of Bakori LGA with the area having a number of markets such as the Kasuwar Sama market.
