Batagarawa

Batagarawa is a local government area in Katsina state, Northwest Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA are in the town of Batagarawa and comprises towns such as Kayauki, Mallamawa, Batagarawa, Barawa, Dan Iyan, Ajiwa, Bakiyawa, and Babibayawa. Batagarawa local government area comprises of a number of ethnic groups which include the Hausa and Fulani tribes with the Fufulde and Hausa languages spoken extensively in the area. Islam is the major religion in Batagarawa local government area while the population of the area is estimated at 132,094 inhabitants.

Batagarawa LGA covers a total area of 433 square kilometres and has an average annual temperature of 35 degrees centigrade. Wind speed in the area is estimated at 5 km/h while the humidity level in Batagarawa LGA is pegged at 11 percent.

ECONOMY OF BATAGARAWA

Agriculture is a critical feature of the economic life of the people of Batagarawa LGA with crops such as sorghum, millet, and beans grown in the area. A large percentage of the population of Batagarawa engage in cattle rearing while trade is also a key economic activity in Batagarawa with the area hosting a number of markets which include the Dry Meat Modern market and the New market in Batagarawa.

Batagarawa local government area was created in the year 1991.
