About Sabuwa Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Sabuwa local government area is found in Katsina state, North-west geopolitical zone of Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Sabuwa. The LGA shares borders with parts of Kaduna state and the towns and villages that make up Sabuwa LGA include Albasa, Rumada, Ginanna, Doka, and Awala. The LGA is a part of the Katsina Emirate and boasts an estimated population of 259,009 inhabitants with the area primarily inhabited by members of the Hausa and Fulani ethnic groups. The Fufulde and Hausa languages are commonly spoken in the LGA while the religion of Islam is extensively practiced in the area.


GEOGRAPHY OF SABUWA

Sabuwa LGA covers a total area of 642 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 33 degrees centigrade. The LGA has an average humidity level of 26 percent while the total precipitation in the area is put at an estimated 950 mm of rainfall per annum.


ECONOMY OF SABUWA

Farming is an important economic activity in Sabuwa LGA with crops such as millet, sugarcane, and rice grown in the LGA. Sabuwa LGA is also a hub for the rearing and sales ofa variety of domestic animals. Other economic enterprises undertaken by dwellers of Sabuwa LGA include hunting, pottery, leather works, wood carving, and trade. The Sabuwa New market is one of the markets found in the area.
