Dandume

Dandume local government area is found in Katsina state which is domiciled in the Northwest geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA are in the town of Dandume and consists of several towns and villages which include Dantakari, Jiruwa, Dan Soda, Mahuta, Magaji Wando, Mai Kwama, Dandume, and Ilalla. The population of Dandume LGA is put at 132,546 inhabitants with the most prominent tribe being the Fulani. The fufulde and Hausa languages are spoken extensively in the area while Islam is the widely practiced religion in the area.

Dandume LGA covers a total area of 422 square kilometres with an average temperature of 34 degrees centigrade. The average humidity of the area is 15 percent while the wind speed of the area averages 10km/h.

ECONOMY OF DANDUME

Farmng is the major enterprise in Dandume LGA with a variety of crops such as guinea corn, rice, beans, groundnut, soya beans, pepper, potatoes and cocoyam grown in large quantities in the area. Trade is also an important economic feature in Dandume with the area hosting several markets such as the Dandume grains market where a variety of grains are bought and sold.
