About Mani Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Mani local government area is situated in Katsina state, North-west geopolitical zone of Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Mani. Towns and villages that make up Mani LGA include Tsagem, Mani, Randawa, Galawa, Tabalawa, and Gedan Gewayau. The estimated population of Mani LGA is put at 195,777 inhabitants with the majority of the area’s populace comprising of members of the Hausa and Fulani ethnic affiliations. The Hausa and Fufulde languages are commonly spoken in Mani LGA while the religion of Islam is widely practiced in the area. The paramount traditional ruler in Mani LGA is known as the Sarkin Gabas Katsina.


GEOGRAPHY OF MANI

Mani LGA occupies a total area of 784 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 32 degrees centigrade. The area witnesses two major seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons. The area has an average humidity level of 20 percent while the total precipitation in the area is put at an average of 1050 mm of rainfall per annum.


ECONOMY OF MANI

Farming is an important economic activity in Mani LGA with the area known for the cultivation of a number of crops such as sorghum and cowpea. Mani LGA is also known for the rearing and sales of a number of domestic animals. Other important economic enterprises undertaken by the people of Mani LGA include pottery, woodwork, and blacksmithing.
