Malumfashi

Malumfashi local government area is situated in Katsina state, North-west Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Malumfashi. The LGA is made up of several towns and villages such as Marmawa, Sabon Gari, Yaro, Agagiwa, Fanisau, Karfi, Gora, and Makaurachi. The current estimated population of Malumfashi LGA is put at 202,619 inhabitants with the vast majority of the area’s dwellers being members of the Fulani ethnic division. The Fufulde and Hausa languages are commonly spoken in Malumfashi LGA while the religion of Islam is widely practiced in the area. The Sarkin Malumfashi is the traditional Administrator of the LGA.

Malumfashi LGA occupies a total area of 674 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 33 degrees centigrade. The LGA experiences two major seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons with the dry seasons in the area featuring hot and humid weather.

ECONOMY OF MALUMFASHI

Farming is a key economic activity in Malumfashi LGA with a plethora of crops grown in the area. The LGA is also a hub for the rearing and sales of a number of domestic animals such as rams, cows, and camels. Trade also booms in Malumfashi LGA with the area hosting several markets where a wide variety of commodities are bought and sold.
