Kwararafa University Wukari, was licensed as Wukari Jubilee by the National Universities Commission in 2005. It took off in March, 2006 with 61 students as the first and only community owned University in Nigeria, the first University in Taraba State and the second private University in the North East Geopolitical zone of Nigeria.

It offers 15 programmes at the undergarduate level and operates three (3) colleges, namely, Social and Management Sciences, Natural and Applied Sciences and Education. All the programmes are accredited by the National Universities Commission. It also has two (2) centres and a Post-Graduate School is planned. It aims at being one of the leading teriatry education providers and a research-led University, which responds to the developmental needs of the community.
