About Ayedaade Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Ayedaade local government area is found in Osun state which is situated in the Southwest geopolitical division of Nigeria. The headquarters of Ayedaade LGA is in the town of Gbongan while the area consists of several towns and villages which include Orile-Owu, Gbongan, Araromi-Owu, Motako, Mokore, Ode-Omu, and Ajebandele. The population of Ayedaade LGA is put at 96,084 inhabitants with the overwhelming majority being members of the Yoruba ethnic group. The Yoruba and English languages are widely spoken in the area while Christianity and Islam are the most practiced religions in Ayedaade LGA. Ayedaade LGA features a number of landmarks which include the Ayedaade grammar School.


GEOGRAPHY OF AYEDAADE

Ayedaade LGA covers a total area of 113 square kilometres and features two major seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons with the average temperature of the area pegged at 29 degrees centigrade. Ayedaade local government area also has a humidity level of 61 percent with wind speed in the area estimated at 9km/h.


ECONOMY OF AYEDAADE

Commerce is an important economic feature of the people of Ayedaade LGA with the presence of markets such as the Olufi market and the Gbongan central market adding to massively the economy of the area. Other important economic engagements of the people of Ayedaade include hunting, pottery, cloth dyeing and weaving and crop cultivation. The area also boasts the presence of a Dangote group owned quarry in Ajebandele town.
