About Ife East Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Ife east LGA is in Osun state, Southwest geopolitical zone of Nigeria with the LGA’s headquarters situated in the town of Oke Ogbo. Ife East LGA hosts the Ife Northeast Local council Development Area and comprises of towns and villages such as Modakeke, Adanrin, Edunabon, Morayin, Adekunmi, Baale, Salako, and Alapata. The estimated population of Ife east LGA is 93,705 inhabitants with the most populous ethnic affiliation in the area being the Yoruba. The Yoruba language is commonly spoken in the area while Islam and Christianity are the widely practiced religions in the area.  Notable landmarks in Ife east LGA include the Kemade Highflyers Academy.


GEOGRAPHY OF IFE EAST

Ife east LGA covers a total area of 172 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 28 degrees centigrade. The LGA falls under the Tropical Savannah Climate and witnesses two major seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons. The average humidity level of Ife central LGA is 59 percent.


ECONOMY OF IFE EAST

Farming is a major economic activity in Ife east LGA with crops such as cassava and pepper grown in the area. The area hosts several markets such as the Idi-ose and the Ife east central market where a plethora of commodities are bought and sold by the dwellers of the area. Other important economic enterprises engaged in by the people of Ife east LGA include wood carving, textile weaving and craftsmanship.
