Boluwaduro

Boluwaduro local government area is located within Osun state, Southwest Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA are in the town of Otan Aiyegbaju and features a number of towns and villages which include Eripa, Igbajo, Iresi, Alafara, Igbodu, Oke Oba, Obanla, Okerun, and Gbeleru. The population of Boluwaduro LGA is put at 101,664 inhabitants with the vast majority of the area’s inhabitants being members of the Yoruba ethnic group. The Yoruba and English languages are widely spoken in Boluwaduro LGA while Christianity and Islam are the commonly practiced religions in the area. Boluwaduro is home to a number of colourful festivals which include the Iresi cultural festival and the Ore festival.

Boluwaduro LGA covers a total area of 144 square kilometres and features two major seasons which are the rainy and the dry seasons. The average temperature of Boluwaduro LGA is put at 29 degrees centigrade while the area has a humidity level of 60 percent.

ECONOMY OF BOLUWADURO

Farming is a key economic activity in Boluwaduro LGA with the area known for the cultivation of a number of crops such as cocoa, cotton and cassava. Textile dyeing and weaving, traditional medicine and pottery are other prominent economic activities engaged in by the dwellers of Boluwaduro LGA.
