About Ife North Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Ife North local government area is in Osun state, Southwest Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Ipetumodu. The LGA comprises several towns and villages such as Agodo, Akingbode, Yakoyo, Ologbo, Ashiba, Fagbore, Ogangan, Wasinmi, and Lamiriki. The estimated population of Ife North LGA is 86,708 inhabitants with the vast majority of the area’s populace being members of the Yoruba ethnic affiliation. The Yoruba language is extensively spoken in the area while Christianity and Islam are the commonly practiced religions in the LGA. Notable landmarks in Ife North LGA include the Community High School Ipetumodu.


Ife North LGA occupies a total area of 889 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 28 degrees centigrade. The average humidity level in the area is 58 percent while the area witnesses two distinct seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons.


Ife North LGA has agriculture as its major source of economic sustenance with crops such as cassava, vegetables and a variety of fruits grown in the area. Trade is another key feature of the economy of Ife North as the LGA hosts several markets such as the Akinola market in Asipa where residents of the area go to exchange a variety of goods and services.
