About Ogo-oluwa Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Ogo Oluwa local government area is domiciled in Oyo state, South-west Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Ajaawa. The LGA is bordered by the Oyo east, Afijio, and Orire LGAs and by parts of Osun state. Towns and villages that constitute Ogo Oluwa LGA include Bode Osi, Ikire Ile, Iwara, Obamoro, Ile-ojo, Asa, Ajagun-lase, Ajagba, and Telemu. The estimated population of Ogo Oluwa LGA is put at 162,985 inhabitants with the vast majority of the area’s populace made up of members of the Yoruba ethnic group. The Yoruba language is commonly spoken in the LGA while the religions of Christianity and Islam are practiced in the area. The Ogo Oluwa west Local Council Development Area is domiciled in the Ogo Oluwa LGA.


GEOGRAPHY OF OGO-OLUWA

Ogo Oluwa LGA covers a total area of 369 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 28 degrees centigrade. The LGA witnesses two distinct seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons with the LGA’s average humidity level put at 57 percent.


ECONOMY OF OGO-OLUWA

Farming is an important economic occupation of the people of Ogo Oluwa LGA with the area known for the cultivation of a number of crops such as soybeans and pineapple. Trade also flourishes in Ogo Oluwa LGA with the area hosting several markets such as the Olorunda market where a plethora of commodities are bought and sold. Other important economic activities undertaken by the people of Ogo Oluwa LGA include wood carving, welding, and hunting.
