About Saki East Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Saki east local government area is in Oyo state, South-west geopolitical zone of Nigeria with headquarters of the LGA in the town of Ago Amodu. The LGA is made up of several towns and villages such as Agbonde, Oje-owode, Ago-amodu, Sepeteri, Ogbooro, Adeduntan, Agbgba, and Alade. The current estimated population of Saki east LGA is put at 184,323 inhabitants with the LGA hosting members of theYoruba ethnic group. The Yoruba language is extensively spoken in the LGA while the religions of Christianity and Islam are commonly practiced in the LGA. Prominent traditional rulers in Saki east LGA include the Alamodu of Ago Amodu while the popular festivals held in the LGA include the Alasi festival.


GEOGRAPHY OF SAKI EAST

Saki east LGA sits on a total area of 1,569 square kilometres with the area having an average temperature of 27 degrees centigrade. The LGA has the popular Ogun river flowing through its territory with the total precipitation in the area put at 1800 mm of rainfall.


ECONOMY OF SAKI EAST

Saki east has a viable trade sector and hosts a number of markets such as the Agaw Are Ago market which attracts a multitude of buyers and sellers of diverse commodities. The LGA is also a hub for the cultivation of a wide variety of crops such as cocoa, pepper, vegetables, and kolanut. Other important economic activities in Saki east LGA include hunting, textile weaving, wood carving, and crafts making.
