Oyo East local government area is domiciled in Oyo state, South-west geopolitical zone of Nigeria with the headquarters of the LGA stationed in the town of Kosobo. Towns and villages that make up Oyo East LGA include Gudu gbu, Kosobo, Jabata, Melagro, Ori Awo, ile-iwe, and Owode. The estimated population of Oyo East LGA is put at 183,741n inhabitants with the area mostly populated by members of the Yoruba ethnic affiliation. The Yoruba language is commonly spoken in the LGA while the religions of Christianity and Islam are practiced in the area.
