About Albasu Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Albasu local government area is one of the fourty four LGAs found in Kano state, Northwest Nigeria. The headquarters are at Albasu and consists of a number of towns and villages which include Farantama, Chararana, Faragai, Hungu Sabuwa, Koga, Mangari, and Yaura. The estimated population of Albasu LGA is 122, 563 dwellers with the majority of these being members of the Fulani and Hausa tribes. The commonly spoken languages in Albasu include Hausa, Fufulde and English while Islam is the major religious practice of the area’s dwellers.


GEOGRAPHY OF ALBASU

Albasu LGA covers a total area of 398 km squared with a humidity of 47 percent. The average temperature of the area is 32 degrees centigrade while there are two major seasons in the Albasu  which are the rainy and dry seasons with the dry season often characterized by extreme sunshine and very hot weather.


ECONOMY OF ALBASU

Albasu is an agricultural area with crops such as rice, millet, groundnuts and onions cultivated in fairly large quantities. The practice of cattle rearing is also very popular in the area with commerce also contributing immensely to the economy of the area. The area also has markets, hotels and financial institutions which include the Albasu microfinance Bank.
