About Minjibir Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Minjibir local government area is found in Kano state, North-west Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Minjibir. Minjibir LGA is made up of several towns and villages which include Bagurawa, Dauni, Agalawa, Goda, Koya, Ladan, Zango, and Garke. The current estimated population of Minjibir LGA is put at 239,461 inhabitants with the majority of the area’s residents being from the Hausa and Fulani ethnic sub-divisions. The Hausa language is commonly spoken in Minjibir LGA while the religion of Islam is widely practiced in the area.


GEOGRAPHY OF MINJIBIR

Minjibir LGA occupies a total area of 416 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 33 degrees centigrade. The LGA witnesses two distinct seasons which are the rainy and the dry seasons with the area having an average wind speed of 11 km/h.


ECONOMY OF MINJIBIR

Agriculture thrives in Minjibir LGA with the area known for the cultivation of a number of crops such as rice, groundnuts, sugarcane, and watermelons. The LGA is also a hub for the rearing and sales of a variety of domestic animals such as cows, rams, and donkeys. Trade also flourishes in Minjibir LGA with the area hosting several markets which provide platforms for the exchange of a wide variety of commodities. Other occupations of the people of Minjibir LGA include hunting, pottery, and crafts making.
