About Bichi Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Bichi local government area is in Kano state, Northwest Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Bichi. Bichi LGA comprises several towns and villages which include Badume, Chiromawa, Daddo, Dokoki, Rimaye, Marga, Yan Bundu, and Saye. Bichi LGA has an estimated population of 121, 094 inhabitants with the most populous ethnic divisons being the Hausa and the Fulani. Islam is the commonly practiced religion in Bichi with the Hausa and the Fufulde languages spoken extensively in the area. Popular landmarks in Bichi LGA include the Moringa farmer field school.


GEOGRAPHY OF BICHI

Bichi LGA covers a total area of 612 square kilometres and features two major seasons; the rainy and dry seasons. Bichi LGA has an average temperature of 34 degrees centigrade with humidity estimated at 18 percent.


ECONOMY OF BICHI

Bichi local government area has fertile lands with crops such as rice, beans, groundnut, millet and sorghum grown extensively within the area. Other important economic activities in Bichi local government area include hunting, trade, pottery and textile dyeing and weaving.
