About Rogo Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Rogo local government area is situated in Kano state, North-west geopolitical zone of Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Rogo. Rogo LGA is a part of the Kano Emirate and is made up of several towns and villages such as Falgore, Kadafa, Dan Sambo, Dederi, Beli, Ruwanbago, Rogo, and Zarewa. Rogo LGA has a current estimated population of 289,901 inhabitants with the area mostly populated by members of the Hausa and the Fulani ethnic groups. The Hausa and the Fufulde languages are commonly spoken in Rogo LGA while the religion of Islam is widely practiced in the LGA. Notable landmarks in Rogo LGA include the Rogo Microfinance Bank.


GEOGRAPHY OF ROGO

Rogo LGA covers a total area of 802 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 34 degrees centigrade. The LGA witnesses two major seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons with the total precipitation in the area estimated at 1250 mm of rainfall per annum.


ECONOMY OF ROGO

Rogo LGA has a vibrant trade sector and hosts a number of markets where a variety of commodities are bought and sold. A number of crops such as groundnut and millet are grown in the area while a variety of domestic animals are also reared and sold in the LGA. The people of Rogo LGA also engage in economic practices such as hunting, pottery, and crafts making.
