Kiru

Kiru local government area is in Kano state, Northwest Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Kiru. Towns and villages that make up Kiru LGA include Dangora, Dashi, Maraku, Tsaudawa, Yako, Yalwa, Sarkama, and Kadangaru. The estimated population of Kiru LGA is estimated at 212, 449 inhabitants with the predominant tribes in the area being the Hausa and the Fulani. The Hausa and the Fufulde languages are spoken in the area while the religion of Islam is extensively practiced in the area. Notable landmarks in Kiru LGA include the Kiru Health Center.

GEOGRAPHY OF KIRU

Kiru LGA occupies a total area of 927 square kilometres and witnesses two distinct seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons. The average temperature of the LGA is put at 33 degrees centigrade while the total annual rainfall in the area is estimated at 950 mm.

ECONOMY OF KIRU

Farming is the main occupation of the people of Kiru LGA with crops such as rice and wheat grown in substantially large quantities within the area. The area is also a trade hub as the LGA hosts a number of markets where a wide variety of commodities are bought and sold. Other important economic activities indulged in by the people of Kiru LGA include hunting, animal rearing, and wood carving.
