About Dala Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Dala local government area is found in Kano state, Northwest Nigeria and has its headquarters in the Gwammaja district of Kano city. Popular districts in Dala LGA include Makafin Dala, Dandunshi, Gandu, Tudun Yola, Yalwa, Dandankaya, and Aburawa. Dala LGA is densely populated and has a population estimated at 438,901 inhabitants with the vast majority of this number being members of the Hausa and Fulani tribes. The religion of Islam is widely practiced in Dala LGA with the Hausa and the Fufulde languages spoken extensively in the area. The landmarks in the area include the Government Girls College and the Dala hills.


GEOGRAPHY OF DALA

Dala LGA covers a total area of just 19 square kilometres and witnesses two major seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons. The average temperature of Dala LGA is 32 degrees centigrade while the humidity level of the area is put at 18 percent.


ECONOMY OF DALA

Trade is an important feature of the economic life of Dala LGA with the area hosting several markets which include the Kofar Ruwa Iron and Rod market. Agriculture is also a critical component of Dala’s economy with a variety of crops grown in the area and a number of animals reared in the area. Other important economic enterprises in Dala LGA include Leather works, Blacksmithing, and textile dyeing.
