About Bunkure Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Bunkure local government area is one of the forty-four local government areas in Kano state, Northwest Nigeria. The LGA is made up of several towns and villages such as Dundu, Garanga, Tsamabaki, Zanga, Jaroji, Falingo, Bono, and Dususu with the headquarters of the area residing in the town of Bunkure. Bunkure LGA boasts a population estimated at 177,845 inhabitants with the vast majority of this number being members of the Hausa and the Fulani ethnic divisions. Islam is the commonly practiced religion in Bunkure with the Hausa and Fufulde languages spoken extensively in the area. Popular landmarks in Bunkure LGA include the Bunkure Cattle Ranch.


GEOGRAPHY OF BUNKURE

Bunkure LGA sits on a total area of 487 square kilometres and features two major seasons which are the rainy and the dry seasons. The average temperature in Bunkure is 32 degrees centigrade while the humidity level of the area is put at 21 percent.


ECONOMY OF BUNKURE

Farming is the major means of livelihood for the dwellers of Bunkure local government area with a variety of crops such as rice, millet, maize, watermelon and tomato grown in substantially large quantities within the area. The people of Bunkure LGA also engage in economic activities such as Animal rearing, hunting and trade with the area hosting several markets where dwellers frequent for the sales and purchase of a variety of commodities.
