About Warawa Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Warawa local government area is situated in Kano state, North-west geopolitical zone of Nigeria with the headquarters of the LGA domiciled in the town of Warawa. Warawa LGA comprises of several towns and villages that include Danlassan, Yangizo, Jemagu, Warawa, Imawa, Garin Dau, Tangar, and Madari Mata.The estimated population of Warawa LGA is put at 179,636 inhabitants with the area predominantly occupied by members of the Hausa/Fulani ethnic division. The Hausa language is commonly spoken in the LGA while the religion of Islam is widely practiced in the area. Notable landmarks in Warawa LGA include the Government Girls Arabic Secondary School.


GEOGRAPHY OF WARAWA

Warawa LGA occupies a total area of 360 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 34 degrees centigrade. The LGA witnesses two distinct seasons which are the rainy and the dry seasons with the average wind speed in the area put at 9 km/h.


ECONOMY OF WARAWA

Warawa LGA has a vibrant trade sector and hosts a numberof markets which include the Lahadin Makole and the Laraba markets where a wide variety of commodities are bought and sold. Farming also booms in Warawa LGA with the area known for the cultivation of crops such as sorghum, sugarcane, tomatoes, onions, and groundnut. Other important economic activities held in Warawa LGA include pottery, animal rearing and hunting.

HISTORY OF WARAWA

Warawa LGA was created from the Dawakin kudu LGA in the year 1991.
