About Bagwai Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Bagwai local government area is in Kano state, Northwest Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Bagwai. Towns and villages that make up Bagwai LGA include Alajawa, Daddudda, Badodo, Dugurawa, Jarimawa, Santar Lungu, and Wuro Bagga. The population of Bagwai LGA is estimated at 185, 761 inhabitants with the vast majority of this number being members of the Hausa and Fulani ethnic divisions. The Hausa and Fufulde languages are extensively spoken in Bagwai LGA while Islam is the major religious affiliation in the area.


GEOGRAPHY OF BAGWAI

Bagwai LGA covers a total area of 405 square kilometres with average temperature put at 30 degrees centigrade. Wind speed in the area is pegged at 6km/h while the humidity of the area is estimated at 18 percent.


ECONOMY OF BAGWAI

Bagwai local government area has substantial amounts of Gold deposits and has the presence of the Bagwai Dam. Agriculture is the major economic enterprise of the people of Bagwai LGA with crops such as onions, tomatoes, irish potatoes, and rice grown in fairly large quantities. The farmlands of Bagwai LGA are watered by several irrigation channels while cattle rearing and commerce also contribute immensely to the economy of the area.
