About Dawaki Kudu Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Dawakin Kudu local government area is one of the forty-four LGAs found in Kano state, Northwest Nigeria. The headquarters of the area are in the town of Dawakin kudu and the LGA consists of several towns and villages which include Dabakwari, Jido, Kadawa, Tamburawa, Zogarawa, Yanfari, Tanagar and Danbagina. The population of the area is put at 167,904 inhabitants with the most prominent tribes being the Hausa and the Fulani. Islam is the widely practiced religion in the area while the Hausa and Fufulde languages are spoken in the LGA. Popular landmarks in Dawakin Kudu include the Dawakin kudu science college.


GEOGRAPHY OF DAWAKI KUDU

Dawakin kudu LGA covers a total area of 384 square kilometres and has an elevation of over 400 meters above sea level. The average temperature of the area is put at 34 degrees centigrade while the humidity level of the area is at 15 percent. Dawakin kudu LGA has an average wind speed of 7 km/h.


ECONOMY OF DAWAKI KUDU

A number of crops such as sorghum, millet, rice and groundnuts are grown in Dawakin Kudu LGA. Other important economic activities in the area include pottery and textile dyeing with the area hosting the oldest dyeing pit in Kano state. Trade also blossoms in Dawakin Kudu LGA with the area being home to several markets such as the Kwanar Cattle market.
