About Gwarzo Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Gwarzo local government area is in Kano state which is domiciled in the Northwest geopolitical enclave of Nigeria. The headquarters of Gwarzo LGA are in the town of Gwarzo and comprises of a number of towns and villages such as Dan Nafada, Baderi, Jaga, Gangare, Koyar, Ratawa, Makan Wata, and Kazoge. The population of Gwarzo LGA is estimated at 184,516 inhabitants with the majority of the area’s populace constituting of members of the Hausa and the Fulani ethnic groups. The Hausa and the Fufulde languages are commonly spoken in Gwarzo LGA while Islam is the widely practiced religion in the area. Notable landmarks in Gwarzo LGA include the General Hospital Gwarzo.


GEOGRAPHY OF GWARZO

Gwarzo LGA covers a total area of 393 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 33 degrees centigrade. The LGA witnesses two major seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons. The average wind speed in Gwarzo LGA is 10 km/h while the humidity level of the area is at an average of 21 percent.


ECONOMY OF GWARZO

Gwarzo LGA is known for the cultivation of a number of crops such as rice, groundnut, cotton, and millet. The area is also known for the rearing of a variety of animals such as camels, horses, and rams. Trade is another important feature in the economy of Gwarzo LGA with the area hosting several markets such as the Gwarzo market where a plethora of commodities are bought and sold.
